Cronus Partners LLC, an independent investment banking firm providing financial and strategic advisory services, is pleased to announce the formation of its Board of Advisors. The Board will consist of industry experts and leaders who can expand the depth and breadth of the firm's expertise. In addition, Cronus Partners announces that four Senior Advisors have joined the Board. “We are excited by the additional experience and expertise that Ed Kilpela, Doug Mello, Sarah Nikiforow and Steve Tilley bring to our firm, and we look forward to being able to bring that to bear for our clients,” commented Charles Carson, a Managing Director of Cronus Partners. Edwin J. Kilpela is a senior executive with significant general management leadership experience and recognized achievements in profit center management, including new business development, engineering, service operations, marketing and sales across diverse technical industries. He has had success applying strategic management skills to the growth and operation of small and mid-sized businesses worldwide. Most recently, Mr. Kilpela was President and CEO of Soil Safe, Inc., a market-leading provider of soil treatment and placement services. Previously, he was President of Noxso Corporation, a technology development company in the environmental air pollution control industry, and President of Ansaldo Ross Hill Corporation, an automation equipment company. Mr. Kilpela spent 30 years at Westinghouse Electric Corporation, last as General Manager, Environmental Services Division, a full-service environmental business, and prior to that position, as General Manager, International Operations, and Vice President, International Marketing and Sales. Mr. Kilpela is also a Board Member of PDG Environmental, Inc. and Brother’s Brother Foundation, as well as an Advisory Board Member of several private equity groups Douglas J. Mello is President and Founder of DJM Advisory Services, Inc., a telecommunication advisory services firm focused on assisting CEOs with execution of major decisions. Specializing in the telecommunications industry, he is a seasoned, accomplished business leader with an exceptional record of achievement in officer-level sales, marketing and operations positions in the industry’s largest, most important and most hotly contested markets. A key member of the leadership teams of NYNEX and Bell Atlantic corporations, Mr. Mello successfully led major business sales organizations through a decade and a half of domestic growth and rapid change, including the breakup of the Bell system and formation of NYNEX, and more recently, NYNEX’s merger with Bell Atlantic. His positions included: President, Large Business Sales, North at Bell Atlantic; Vice President, Sales at NYNEX; Group Vice President, Manhattan at NYNEX; and Chairman, President and CEO of NYNEX Business Information Systems. Mr. Mello is on the Boards of Directors of Warwick Telephone Company, Xstream Solutions, USA Datanet and Straitshot Communications. Sarah Nikiforow, MD, PhD, is currently an Internal Medicine Resident at Yale-New Haven Hospital after having completed a joint MD/PhD degree at the Yale University School of Medicine. After graduating summa cum laude in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University, she earned her PhD in Immunobiology for work on the role of CD4+ T cells in preventing Epstein-Barr Virus-induced B cell proliferation and her MD cum laude with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. Dr. Nikiforow’s PhD work involved creation of a novel experimental monitoring system and bridging the expertise of human virology and mouse immunology; she has authored eight peer-reviewed publications, presented her work at numerous national and international scientific meetings, and collaborated with researchers throughout the Yale University community and at Rockefeller University in New York City. Her current research focuses on the etiology of anemia in the elderly and is being conducted in conjunction with the Dana Farber Cancer Center under Dr. Nancy Berliner, head of Hematology. Dr. Nikiforow also will serve in 2008–2009 as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at Yale before beginning a Hematology and Oncology Fellowship. Steven W. Tilley founded Retail Stores Systems, Inc. (RSS), a systems integration company with a focus on a retail industry, and steadily grew the business into a dominant solutions provider in the store systems space serving retailers worldwide. He co-founded Visual Retailing, LLC, a reseller and integrator of virtual reality software for apparel retailers and apparel manufacturers servicing apparel retailers; the company serves blue chip clients such as Target, Dillard’s, Liz Claiborne and Macy’s. Mr. Tilley sold RSS to Torex Retail, Plc, becoming CEO of Torex Retail North America. While at Torex, he expanded the North American business through organic growth as well as acquisition. Mr. Tilley completed the acquisition of Systech Retail Systems (dba Openfield) and its integration into the Torex Retail North American operations. He also was involved in the acquisition of Savista Corporation which was eventually integrated into the Torex Hospitality group in the UK. Today, Mr. Tilley is the President of SMT Real Estate, LLC, a real estate development firm he founded to focus on the commercial office market in his home state of Rhode Island. In this capacity, he served on the Board of the Woonsocket (RI) Industrial Development Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on employment growth through regional economic development. Mr. Tilley serves on several other charitable and community organizations. He is a US Navy veteran.
